A healthy diet means a variety and balance of whole, natural ingredients. Our focus is on whole grains - providing you with B vitamins, antioxidants and minerals - all of which help to reduce your risk of heart disease and certain cancers, and regulate your blood sugar levels.

Our food provides you with good fats - monounsaturated fats from olive oil and avocadoes and nuts. We minimize the amount of saturated fats and avoid products with trans fats, which are a big risk factor for heart disease.

When choosing meals, you're always given the option of swapping out the carbohydrate for another vegetable side or replacing it with brown rice. You can also talk to us if you would like smaller portions.

We use fresh ingredients and local produce, which is organic whenever possible - fresh foods not only taste better, but also contain more vitamins, minerals and nutrients. We've learned that it is better to go local first, and then organic when available. Our meals are freshly prepared and personally delivered, thus maximizing nutritional benefit, by reducing the distance and time from the field to your plate.

We use whole foods, which are natural, unprocessed and unrefined - our meals contain no preservatives, trans fats, chemicals or genetically modified foods. We use "good" carbs and fats, while avoiding the "bad" ones. Not only do these foods contain important nutrients and fiber, but also it means that your body is not overloaded with unnecessary junk.

We use organic meat and dairy products - while non-organic is a lot cheaper, it also contains hormones and antibiotics that put a toxic load on the body. We try to get our meat and poultry from local farmers, who care about how they raise and prepare their animals for consumption.

We plan our menus to be balanced and varied - we mix it up, so that you don't get bored. When your body is getting what it needs you feel energized and you have less cravings for "bad" food. Cravings and overeating are often caused from our bodies still seeking the nutrients and balance that we didn't get in the meal we just ate. Balance and variety applies just as much to cooking techniques and preparation as to the ingredients. This is a top priority in the New York Fork kitchen.

Sometimes your body simply doesn't want that healthy salad - you crave a creamy portion of mac and cheese, or a deliciously decadent piece of chocolate cake...

While it's not always healthy to give in to your cravings, experience has taught us at New York Fork that strict restrictions can often increase cravings - it's human nature to want what we can't have.

We at New York Fork believe that sometimes it is healthier emotionally and certainly more satisfying and delicious, to indulge once in a while rather than restricting yourself all the time and feeling deprived.

We try to offer a wide range, so that you can indulge. Some of our desserts fall into the decadent category. However, rest assured these items are made from the best quality ingredients, and while they may not be low-fat or low in calories, they're better for you than the junk you'll find elsewhere.
